What a nice day! School was good today. We taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade with no major problems. I really feel like the kids are learning-which is encouraging. We played “trashketball” for review with the 5th grade, which they loved. This is parent visitation weekend so many of the kids went with parents or godparents for the weekend. Some have parents and some don’t. Those who do have parents, their parents may be drug addicts, homeless, poor, or otherwise unstable. The kids are only allowed to spend the night with their parents for the weekend if they have a somewhat stable home to go to, so if their parents live on the street they can hang out during the day at a park or something, but come back to the home for the night. We saw today that the parents, or at least some of the parents, attend parenting classes here with a social worker.
Tonight we had pizza at Jeanene and Richard’s apartment with a few other missionaries. It was a lot of fun! Then we went over to the Numbers house to watch a movie with the girls. We watched Mouse Hunt (luckily I’ve already seen the movie several times, plus we had english subtitles.) We also made some popcorn for the girls and had a great time with them.
Here’s a picture of some of the girls at movie night!
Our plans for the weekend changed a little-but no worries! Tomorrow morning we are going to the botanical garden with many of the kids. Then after that Krista and I are taking 2 girls with us to a shopping mall, and then we’re going to youth group with them. Well time for bed! I love you!
